Why Nomad? What is a yogi-nomad teacher?
A nomad is someone who moves with the flow in which he is immersed. He understands that higher forces are at play and he does not try to move against them. Within this flow, he finds freedom. You do not have to be actually a nomad, most of our teachers have homes!
How do you practice? What style do you practice?
We respect and study all yoga practices in order to better our chance of success. We bring together a combination of practices that is relevant and practical to our life (this is one of the Tantric ideal) and will strive to get liberated in this very life! We practice everywhere and every time but we like to practice in sacred places that have seen the development of the yoga tradition because they carry high level of spirituality and power and are enticing to practice.
What is practice? What is training?
We believe that in the studio, at the temple or on the mat we train, we create a safe environment to try new things. Practice is what happen 24/24 - 7/7
What is the circle of Light? Can I join?
The Circle of Light is a link between like-minded people. If you share with us what we think is important, then you can join and help us bring more light the world. Putting together our forces we will be stronger than alone in the dark. Anyone can join, we have different qualities for you to choose from, the “friends” who feed the light to the Teacher who spread the Light and the Light keeper who protect the light.
What tradition of Yoga do you teach?
We believe that Yoga is a very personal experience and choice, all tradition leads to the same objective, Liberation, but you need to find what is the best path for you, that is why we do not teach a specific tradition but provide the elements for you to find yours.
Is yoga not a sport-related or a health-related activity?
The definition of the word Yoga is a complex and philosophical issue. What unites all yoga tradition is the goal of liberation from our limitations, it is linked to the profound and ageless desire of mankind to transcend its current state and go beyond boundaries. As such it is important to keep fit and healthy but our aim goes beyond fitness and health.
Do I need to have a Guru to practice?
In India it is the tradition, but even there not all master agrees. In the West people have had some difficulties with surrendering to a third person. Finding a Guru is a huge and difficult task and requires time and advanced levels of commitment but there is a lot that can be done before that. We will teach you to start the work by training your own internal Guru.
Do I need to go to India to learn Yoga?
Definitely not, there are good teachers everywhere and of all nationalities these days. But it is also true that India (and Nepal) is the birthplace of Yoga and that people have practiced here for thousands of years and elaborated advanced techniques. Many of these techniques are described in books, but here you will find people practicing them every day, in temples, at home, everywhere.
What will be the program of the workshop?
A Yoga Sadhana (practice) is a very personal thing. Everyone has his own preferences, need, intentions etc. Originally Yogic teachings were only meant for 1 to 1 approach from Guru to Shishya. It is only recently, with the trend of Hatha Yoga Workshop and Retreat, that group teachings have been developed and this mostly to comply with economical realities of our time. For a teacher to develop a program he/she nevertheless needs to know how many students will be present, what is the overall experience level, the physical and spiritual need of each student, the energy level of the day etc. Information that is usually not available.
Making a program is a bit like having a "one size fit all recipe", an "average formula" that would try to meet most people demands. At Yogi-nomad we believe that the best teacher comes to a training with an empty mind, free of preconceptions and plans, ready for a total spontaneity and a capacity to merge with the flow of energy of the moment. This is far more demanding than coming with a formula. It requires competence and experience. A teacher comes with a goal, an intention to serve to the best of his knowledge and capacity.
Our workshops will allow student to practice a complete Sadhana. They are geared for each of us to discover something new and develop his/her own personal practice. They contains Kriyas, Pranayama, Asana, Mudras, Bandhas, Mantras, Meditation, Self-inquiry.
